“A Meadow Walk”, 9” x 12”, pastel
Even a nondescript meadow here in Montana is a thing of beauty when the light creates shadow patterns. As you can see by the reference photo, I used my artistic license to rework the background so that it has more interest but the focus is on the light filled meadow area.
The second painting is a progress shot. I thought I was finished with the painting but the mountains in the background weren’t quite right. I added a little more modeling and I removed on of the hills. I think creating just 3 shapes in the background simplified the scene strengthening the overall composition.
