This painting was a studio piece inspired by a photo that was taken by my husband, John, in Scotland. Unfortunately I wasn’t there but John, who has an artistic mind, was able to describe the scene and give me a feeling of the landscape. The wind was blowing as is evident in the painting which gives a strong sense of movement and energy.
This piece was my first painting working with Jeanette Rehahn as my mentor and she gave me tips to accentuate the feeling of motion. By changing the direction of the blowing grasses as you move back into the picture plane, the energy of the motion is felt by the viewer.
Hold onto your hat or it might blow away!
